British Isles map
Our British Isles map is a wonderful piece of artwork, for your home or office place.
The map is made up of 5 layers of 2mm (about 0.08 in) wood sheets and cut out on our laser machine.
The paint we used to give the artwork its look is a home-made tempera paint from egg yolks and natural dye pigment.
This map is showing the different sea levels depth round the British Isles, this information was taken from ordnance survey maps of the oceans and then was imported into our design software where we break it a part to show the different layers.
As a part of this information, I have made a Plack to illustrate the difference depth in feet and meters, as well as longitude and latitude.
Using some artistic interpretation the map comes together.
The frame is made from reclaimed pallet boards, this is sourced from different places; it is cleaned and then cut to the size I require, sanded and sealed with either vanish or wood wax.
If I can, I will always try and use reclaimed wood.
As these are made to order, please contact me for a price first.
Thanks.
